About Course
Unlock the power of your computer to create, record, and produce music. “Introduction to Audio Technology and Desktop Music Production” is a foundational course designed for musicians, aspiring producers, and anyone curious about the world of modern music creation. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the tools and techniques that have transformed the music industry, guiding you from the fundamental principles of sound to the practical skills needed to start producing your own music.
You will begin by exploring the History of Audio Technology, tracing the evolution from early analog recordings to today’s digital revolution. This historical context sets the stage for understanding core Sound Theory, including the physics of sound waves, frequency, amplitude, and how we perceive audio.
The course then demystifies the digital audio process, breaking down the critical steps of Analog to Digital Audio conversion. You will learn about essential hardware like Audio Interfaces and the universal language of electronic instruments, MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface).
A significant portion of the course is dedicated to the software that powers modern music production. You will gain hands-on insight into DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations), the central hub for any project. We will also explore the vast ecosystem of virtual instruments and effects, covering VSTs in our Computer Music – 01 module and the creative use of Sample Libraries in Computer Music – 02.
By the end of this course, you will have a solid understanding of the entire desktop music production pipeline and the confidence to navigate your own creative journey.
